New Comment for Delia's Mom

UPDATE: Delia's mom, Susan left a comment here giving an update. Thanks, so much! She sounds so great. It is wonderful to know that she has been found, that she is loved, and that she will soon be home with her family. Susan, if you ever want to e-mail a picture to me, I'd be happy to post it. Hannah, for one, would be thrilled to see a picture of her smiling.

I received a new comment for Delia's mom on this post asking for an update.

So, Susan if you're reading and you'd like to update, we would love to post it here.

  1. Hi! It's Susan, Delia's mom. I would be happy to let you know how my November visit with her went. First of all, she smiles constantly and has the most sparkling eyes you've ever seen. That took me by complete surprise! I had been given 6 pictures of her during the referral process, and she did not smile in a single one. Lol! She is so much more beautiful than her referral pictures portray. I wish I knew how to attach a picture here, but I'm not too computer savvy. Sorry.

Delia loves to interact and have fun. She watches everything and clearly understands what is said to her. She follows directions well, and accepts correction with a little sheepish look. Adorable! She speaks her native language in simple sentences although her articulation is not always clear. She sang several songs for me and even added cute hand motions.

Delia is small for her age and quite thin. She does not have a very strong appetite, and that may be due to a few physical issues she will need intervention for. She runs and jumps and plays just like everybody else. And she's a good dancer too!

Delia attends a special school in the village, and I got to review some of her schoolwork with her teacher. She loves school, just like the sister she will soon meet when she comes home. One of my other daughters, Krissy, is Delia's age, and was adopted in January of 2011. She also has DS. They will be wonderful companions for each other because they are similar in many ways, especially in their joy of life! They will share a room with bunk beds, and Krissy can't wait. Actually, all 3 of my daughters are very excited :)

I think you can tell that I'm completely smitten with this precious little girl. I am so thankful to God that He chose me to be her mom. This will make a total of four international adoptions, and I have hit the jackpot each time! Delia will soon fit right into our happy household!

Thank you for your continued interest in Delia, and your prayers for her quick adoption completion. Thank you also to those who have given financially to our Reece's Rainbow grant fund. I appreciate it more than you know. Susan
